- To enable an appointed person to give emergency aid to a co worker prior to the arrival of emergency medical services.
Programme Objectives
- By the end of the session the candidate will be able to:
- Explain the legal framework relevant to first aid
- Describe and demonstrate the action to be carried out in an emergency situation
- Carry out CPR (on a resuscitation manikin) safely and correctly to Resuscitation Council UK guidelines
- Place a (simulated) casualty into the standard recovery position and maintain an airway
- Deal promptly, safely and correctly with a casualty who is bleeding or has been injured
- Deal promptly, safely and correctly with a casualty who is suspected of drug or alcohol overdose
- Identify potential health hazards to both casualty and first aider and state appropriate avoidance measures
