Child Protection
To raise awareness of child care specialist or other in a position of local parents i.e. nursery staff, school teachers, after school clubs etc. of the issues of child abuse within their environment or areas of responsibility
Programme Objectives
By the end of the session candidates will be able to:
- Describe how the law applies to their work place including the need for policies and procedures and CRB checks for staff and volunteers
- Identify signs of abuse
- Discuss the forms of abuse a child could suffer
- Recognise the child could be in a cycle of abuse i.e. child abused by a paedophile
- State the sources of help and ways in which you can voice your fears with regard to a child who may be suffering abuse.
- Discuss how your policies and procedures are structured with regard to child protection.
Who is this programme of study for?
Child care specialists i.e. teachers, nursery staff or other persons who have responsibility for children such as in a youth club or after school setting.
