Programme Objectives
By the end of the session candidates will be able to:
- Explain what confusion or dementia is
- Identify forms of dementia
- Describe how confusion and dementia will affect the personality and behaviour of the service user
- Identify dangers to the service users and others
- Describe strategies for communication when dealing with service users who are confused or have dementia
- Discuss types of medication available for service users with dementia and the affects on that service user
- Recognise that a service user who is confused or has dementia is still entitled to be treated with dignity and respect
