Programme Objectives
By the end of the session candidates will be able to:
Discuss what personal care is and the processes that may be involved
Demonstrate an awareness of the issues of privacy and dignity for the service user during personal care
Discuss the aspects of personal care that may cause upset and lead to complaints from a service user or a family
Explain the health & safety issues associate with carrying out personal care
Explain the nature of cross infection that could occur during personal care activities
Explore the issues of Child Protection /POVA applicable to carers carrying out personal care
Discuss what action should be taken if a carer suspects if a child or vulnerable adult is been abused in any shape or form
