By the end of the session candidates will be able to:
- Recognise and explain the causes of pressure sores
- Carry out a Waterlow Risk Assessment
- Identify body areas of greatest risk
- Describe the use of The Stirling Grading Tool
- Discuss and explain ways of reducing the incidents of pressure sores in service users
- Identify suitable equipment such as specialist mattresses for use with service users who have pressure sores
- Identify suitable methods of patient handling for service users with pressure sores
- Describe typical treatment applicable to service users with pressure sores
- Engage in discussion around presented case histories
